Woolworth's menu

Here is a menu from a 1960 Woolworth's lunch counter. Note the extremely reasonable prices. The second picture, the back of the menu, is a blank sheet where daily specials were posted.

I've used this image on Expo Lounge, and a reader identified it as late 40's/early 50's, rather than 1960.

A stickler for accuracy, I was wondering what your own source was?

Thanks!

Hi Jason! To be honest, I can't recall if I had any source other than the eBay auction seller. Very likely, I was going entirely by his description. I can't recall if I did any further research or if I was able to come up with anything. Looking at the menu now, if I hadn't been told 1960, I probably would have sourced it as late 40s/early 50s myself, considering the graphics. The only other option is to compare the menu prices with other Woolworth's menus or posters from the 1940s-1960s and see which decade(s) match. I have some scans of old posters of sandwiches and desserts on my computer that include prices, but I don't have approximate dates for any of them. It's VERY possible that 1960 is wrong. I don't know where the seller got that date from.. It's certainly possible that he just guessed! I'll see if I can find any other menu scans to compare prices.

Ah yes, I noticed that when I did the original post, and THAT was the reason that I identified it as 1960.
